Product Review: L'Oréal Paris True Match Roll on Foundation

loreal-roll-on.jpgThis crazy little invention from L'Oreal looks just like a miniature paint roller, and that's essentially what it is. A block of foundation comes with its own applicator which rolls over the face to provide a 'smooth finish'.

I was a little sceptical about this one, because it's such an obvious gimmick. Also, I worry that I'll lose the 'roller'. But in need of something to replace my trust body shop foundation (I just love the consistency of it) I decided to give this one a fair trial.

Read on over the jump for my verdict

Using the roller turned out to be a fun, if slightly fiddly, experience. I found that once I'd covered it in enough of the foundation to start 'painting' it was a quicker way to apply foundation than most other methods, and the finish was nice and even since the pressure and coverage remains the same wherever it rolls.

However, I did find that I gave up on the roller when I got close to the less smooth parts of my face - notably my eyes, nose, hairline and around the mouth.

In terms of coverage, this is a good product as it keeps everything lovely and even. But I found the foundation itself to be a little thin and in general, I'd suggest sticking to your favourite brand and applying it via the traditional method.

I found that it was hard to get foundation to print on my face as it only applied on the edges of the roller whereas the middle did not touch my face. it is very streaky/patchy and it was not a good buy.

  • Good read. There is currently quite a lot of information around this subject on the net and some are most defintely better than others. You have caught the detail here just right which makes for a refreshing change – thanks.

  • thanks for your post. keep on the good job!

I love this makeup. I found that a little bit on the roller goes a long way. One of the reviews that I saw shows a lady saturating the roller and she said she looked and felt like she was wearing a mask.(hmm, I wonder why. would she put that much on if it were the liquid one? I don't think so) I am almost 59 years old with mild blotchiness. This make up looks totally flawless all day and I have no problem with the roller around my eyes or nose. I will definitely recommend it to others.

  • this is all pretty cute so far! Little compacts, Dinky rollers… Look! I’m gonna paint my face!
