Product Review: Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation

I have to admit that pre-trial I was slightly biased against this product. The word mineral is bandied around with so little knowledge nowadays, that when a budget brand produces a version I almost immediately assume the product won't conform to 'real mineral makeup standards', which is true in this case. It merely contains the minerals elements that have previously existed in these products, with all the chemical preservatives you don't get in the likes of Lily Lolo or Bare Escentuals. That aside, the foundation provides a nice even coverage.

The bottle holds 30ml of product, which is dispensed via a handy pump mechanism, making sure the liquid foundation stays free from germs. It releases a small amount at a time, so you never have to worry about having excess product, and it has a really fine and light consistency.

When applied to the face it blends in extremely well, covering the skin in an invisible layer. Remember to check the colour in store as the shade that suited me looked darker in the bottle than on my skin. The coverage was quite light, think dewy, rather than matte, but it was quite easy to build up over problem areas. I really like the fact it has SPF15 and it stayed in place, with no caking or smudginess. You may want to reapply it for the evening as though the staying power is quite impressive, I did feel like a wanted a touch up at night.
For the price point this is a great foundation, better suited to dry and combination complexions rather than oily skin.
