Charlie le Mindu is well known for his expertise in the hairdressing world, having started at the tender age of 13! He's used to snipping the tresses of the rich and famous, and he's been kind enough to answer some of our questions concerning changes in hairstyling in 2010. He shares his expertise and trend predictions with us below.
Q. What changes do you foresee in men's styling?
I think that the bowl cut will be big for 2010. Everyone tried to follow the grunge trend in 2009 and I'm hoping that for the New Year men will go sleek.
Q.What type of extensions are popular this year?
Wonderful Hair Cold Fusion Extensions. The quality from this brand is so high and the cold fusion technique uses no heat or glue in its application, it's the technology for 2010. This technique is kinder to your natural hair as it eliminates the harmful effects such as associated with typical heat applications. The hair really feels gorgeous and will make anyone look beautiful and last for up to 4 months. I think that people will be using extensions more and more for volume rather than just for length and we'll be seeing extensions styled with curls and rolls.
Q. What tips do you have on looking after hair extensions?
Never use too much product on hair extensions especially wax as it's too heavy. A lightweight conditioner such as Fudge's Torture Tonic will keep the hair in great condition and Ends will help to seal in moisture and prevent the hair from splitting. Also Fudge Liquid Erekt has UV and heat protecting properties so this will keep your extensions looking smooth and light limiting damage.
Q. What products would you suggest for managing colour damaged hair? Fudge Colour Lock Shampoo and Conditioner, because it restores and revives hair while giving hydration.
Q. What styling products can't you live without?
I can't live without Fudge Cement, it's the backbone to all of my collections. It's the strongest hairspray I have ever used and is perfect for any up styles that you don't want to move. Oh and it even makes all my wigs smell like Kiwi.
Q Should you change your hairstyle during winter, and if so what do you recommend?
Yeah sure, I think that it's great to go longer with extensions in the winter and change to warmer colours. Golden browns and ash browns are my favourite colours at the moment.
Q. What colours will be on trend this year?
Again ash brown is going to be huge, but I also think that Jet Black and dark blondes will be the trend for those with lighter complexions. Also for those who go love red, a deep Bordeux is going to keep you ahead of the fashionista's.
Q. What celeb would you like to get hold of- who has the best and the worst style?
Cher for her wigs!! But I also love the Queen, oh and Mohammed Al Fayed! Beyonce is fierce and always creates daring looks for her videos and stage appearances, she definitely has the best style, but I am not too keen on Victoria Beckham, I think I could do something exciting with her if she was to get in touch.
Q. What are your essential winter products?
My essential winter products are the Tangle Teezer to keep the hair in great condition, but also Fudge's Ends and Gloss. They are just amazing and also their latest product Root Juice to give big body through the hair, the bigger the hair, the warmer your head will be, no need for hats!
Q. What trends do you predict for Spring 2010?
Polished, amazing shiny hair that looks clean and sleek! Finger waves will give an old school head mistress feel that's very up-market and classy.
