Runway Rundown: Vivienne Westwood Red Label

Vivienne Westwood Red label 2010.jpg

They models in this years Vivienne Westwood show has a distinctly Helena Bonham Carter feel to them, with their huge backcombed hair and blank staring eyes. Perhaps it's just the fact that Helena often ends up playing roles which see her as a starkly dressed anti hero, and this theme was echoed in the models makeup and style.

Hair sat high on the head, twisted back and backcombed into frizzy ended bouffants whilst the cheeks were hollowed out with a dark blush, to give them an emaciated corpse like appearance. Lips were kept nude, and the eyes neutral, but each model sported over thick eyebrows, accentuated with lashings of pencil.

The fierce brows and cheeks were offset by the huge hair, giving the models an angry silhouette. This style is strictly catwalk only, as this look wouldn't translate well into everyday.

You could derive inspiration from the hair, as backcombing is making a serious comeback, so if you soften the edges a little and add some gentle makeup, you could adapt this for summer.

Yeah I like how you said that this look is catwalk only! :) But I also agree that you can take certain elements from this and definitely adapt it for everday use. I like the more natural brows and also the soft makeup.

I hate it when these designers wants grubby hairstyles.
