Debenhams reveals that your makeup bag is a ticking time bomb!
We all know that we should throw out our cosmetics within a certain time period, but how many women actually follow this advice? I for one am guilty of owning cosmetics that are over 10 years old (Miss Selfridge cream shadows, and no, I don't still use them) but using out of date products can lead to allergic reactions, conjunctivitis and skin rashes.
Debenhams has recently done some research into the health of women's makeup bag and come up with some worrying results- most makeup bags are out of date by 4 years!

Sara Stern, Director of Cosmetics at Debenhams said, "British women are famously loyal to make up brands and products, however, their reluctance to throw away old products is a risky business. We wouldn't hesitate to chuck out mouldy or bacteria-ridden food and the same standards should apply to the lotions and potions and that we put on our skin. Beauty is timeless but unfortunately, products are not".
The research revealed that 68 per cent of women only replace make-up and skincare when they run out, however long that might take.
Remember ladies, we use makeup to make ourselves feel more attractive, so using products that are out of date defeats that objective. If cost is an issue there are many good quality budget priced brands to be found, and treat your face with the care it deserves.
