How much would you pay for packaging perfection?

While this new lip gloss (out today in the US) is getting a lot of good reviews, I can't help but wonder if it's a little gimmicky. The idea is that the slim, flat packaging can fit in the pocket of your skinniest jeans without causing a bump or lump. It seems like such stunt-packaging would be aimed at the mass market, and would be gobbled up at Forever 21 for around $5. But Hourglass Lip Gloss retails for $26 on Sephora.

The packaging is obviously beautiful and functional, but is that enough? Or, if you're spending $26 on lip gloss are you more likely to go for the Dior counter?
