There are a wide selection of tools that promise to help clear your skin, and reduce the sign of breakouts and I've probably tried a fair number of them. The No!No! spot remover, a variety of medications for your skin and even had the rather painful IPL treatment for acne. None have proved very effective though (well the meds were, but there were side effects) so I tend to view any new tool for the skin rather dubiously.
However Tria, the makers of the AMAZING Tria laser hair removal device have got involved, and as I'm very impressed with their original product I thought I'd have a look.
The Tria Clarifying System work by using a FDA cleared blue light device. This shines a therapeutic level of blue light on the skin and helps remove the bacteria in the acne. It's intended to be used in conjunction with two (packed with) products that contains salicylic and glycolic acid to gently exfoliate, remove makeup and sunscreen and prepare the skin for the light.
The Clarifying Blue Light is an at home version of the treatment you would get in a salon and the light penetrates the skin and helps destroy the bacteria that causes breakouts.
Here's what they say.
Blue light therapy is scientifically proven to eliminate acne-causing bacteria gently and effectively without harsh side effects. Using advanced engineering and rigorous clinical testing, TRIA Beauty developed a technology that delivers up to 10 times more blue light than other OTC blue light devices - and the same levels of blue light as professional systems used in dermatologists offices. The proprietary design allows the TRIA blue light to deliver an effective dose of blue light in short treatment times and to clear breakouts three times faster than all leading acne treatments.
So does it work? Having not tried it I can't really judge that, but I can let you know that I'm very eager to get my hands on it!
The kit is priced at $395 from Tria Beauty, with no news of a UK launch anytime soon.
