I was excited to hear about some new shades of varnish for Revlon's Autumn/ Winter matte range. There are two varnishes, entitled Ruby Ribbon and Emerald City, which clearly suggests a Dorothy theme. With the new Dorothy musical due to launch in the Autumn, it's quite a clever tie in for Revlon, and I do love the way the colour glistens, but doesn't reflect. It's hard to say if a polish can truly be 'matte' (other than the ubiquitous Man Glaze), but they're making a good attempt at giving your nails a darker, fiercer hue. What do you think of Ruby Ribbon- pictured above? The other colour is a deep forest green shade, which has some delicious dark hues, yet manages to stay away from a gloss finish.
I also couldn't resist trying on something a little fresher and adorned my nails with the delightfully fresh looking 'Minted'. I loved the smooth glossy finish and the polish has lasted ages, and would definitely recommend it to people looking for a bright refreshing shade.
For more info, check out the Revlon site here, and buy Minted here for £6.29.
