Product Review: Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Collection

Digging into our fall makeup box we're very excited about the Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Collection. Yes, yes, we were seduced by the beautiful image of Hilary Rhoda. But trying out a few of the colors has only improved our opinion.

"The blues and purples in the collection are iconic colors for autumn and winter," said Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director. "I like to give women choices in the way that they look. From a neutral to a smoky to a fashionable, strong look, these shades can be used with them all.

We review a couple things from each of the two color palettes after the jump.

The Pure Color Five Color EyeShadow Palette in Blue Dahlia includes a shimmering sea green, a dark gold, a midnight blue we suspect to be the color on Rhoda in the campaign image and a sparkly ivory for highlighting. In the center is a black perfect for lining the eye with a wet, flat brush.

The Rose Dusk Pure Color Gloss Stick goes on much more sheer than it looks, and is a really pretty pink. It does sort of remind us more of spring than fall, so we may put it away for a while.

From the Surreal Violet palette we tried two great-to-have-in-your-arsenal Pure Color EyeShadow Singles - Enchanted Meadow and Sepia Sand. The light olive green shade looks great with blue eyes and is a very subtle green, not the color you fear when you hear the words "green eye shadow." The Sand tone is a terrific neutral you may wear every day.

The Blue Dahlia Collection is out now, so check it out!
