I'm a big fan of creamy cleansers as I find they work really well for my skin, removing all traces of makeup, whilst laving it soft and supple. I have never really got to grips with cleansing mousses however, but the latest launch from Decleor sounded so tempting I had to have a try. Entitled the Hydra Radiance Smoothing Cleansing Mousse, it's also known as the 'Aroma Cleanse' (well, according to the bottle anyway) it's a product that comes with three promises- Deep Cleansing, Skin Polishing and Perfecting and Hydrating and Plumping. Woah, that's a lot of claims for one little cleanser- will it live up to them in the testing process?
The first thing I was struck by was the almost clinical shape of the bottle, a large white product with minimal decoration and a rather austere feel. It dispenses product via a pump action top which is great, as this means you don't have to dirty the product with your fingers. One pack includes two cotton cloths to help you remove the product, as well as the 100ml bottle.
The bottle dispenses a light creamy liquid which has a rather thick texture to it. When mixed with a bit of water it creates an amazing lather on the face, and feels incredibly soft to play with. It gently removes every trace of grime and leaves the skin shining immediately after use. I was surprised to learn that it features Grapefruit, Papaya Extract and White Mulberry to help exfoliate the skin, as the experience was so relaxing I didn't notice any abrasion at all.
My skin looked radiant after use and felt very soft to the touch, which I partly credit to my moisturising routine, and partly to the inclusion of Neroli oil and Hyaluronic acid which adds softness to the skin.
The formula is paraben free, so you won't be irritated by it, and the results are actually very impressive. So does it live up to the claims?
Here's my step by step analysis:
Deep Cleansing: the cleanser dealt really well with my heavy duty makeup, removing every last trace of foundation. When I dried my face with tissue there was no orange residue. Verdict: A cleansing genius.
Skin Polishing and Perfecting: My skin looked nice and smooth after use, but I wouldn't say that the product made a huge difference to it.
Hydrating and Plumping: My skin was extremely soft after I'd used this, something that doesn't happen that often after cleansing. There was no tightness and it felt lovely to touch and looked healthy as well. Verdict: Great softening properties.
Overall I'm impressed with this product and will be keeping it on the shelf even though the review has been written- my ultimate accolade!
