Having suffered on and off with acne for most of my life, I can really get excited about a device promising to help with the dreaded pimples. I've tried other acne gadgets before, and have been disappointed (Zeno, I'm talking about you), so I remain eager but sceptical.
How the Claro works is by using Intense Pulsed Light to treat blemishes on the skin. It uses a combination of blue light (to kill bacteria) red light (to soother the area) and infra red energy (to make it ultra effective). You simply place the Claro over the pimple, press the button and it delivers a six second burst of light pulses.
Here's the science bit: 'The bacteria that cause acne produces a compound called porphyrin. CLARO uses heat and light to stimulate porphyrin to produce singlet oxygen that attacks and eliminates the acne bacteria.'
I love the fact that a treatment area is so quick, and that the device uses multiple elements to help destroy acne. What do you think- will you be picking this up Stateside?
It's available in 3 colours, and costs $250 from the Claro website. (from the US only.. for now).
