This is a difficult post to write about Rodial, and one I have been sitting on for a while. I love a lot of Rodial products (their Glamotox mask and Glam Balm to name a few) and have always been a fan of their tongue in cheek product names (and envious of their peachy looking models). They recently released the Rodial Crash Diet range of slimming shakes, metabolism boosting sticks and a cream for the body. I'm going to try and avoid discussing the actual name of the line, and focus merely on how the products work. This is a taste test review of the Rodial Crash Diet Smoothie, which is aimed as a meal replacement. I'm not against meal replacement drinks in the short term, and have often used Slim Fast drinks to kick start a diet, so was curious to see what these would taste like.
A pack contains 10 sachets and you're advised to have one to two a day. I think this would depend if you're planning a one or two week diet, and I'd suggest that was the maximum time you tried this routine for.
The Smoothie is flavoured strawberry and banana and as neither of these are my favourite fruits I was a little worried about trying it. I needn't have worried, as the flavour was remarkable palatable. There are two ways you can have this- mixed with water or with milk and I tried it both ways. The powder mixed nicely enough, but you had to give the bottle a firm shake, and if you didn't drink that quickly, it did start to get a little bit solid. It tasted much nicer with milk, but was also OK with water- and remember this is from a banana hater. The flavour was light enough to slip down my throat and the taste didn't linger- no artificial backwash either.
Essentially you're just downing an expensive looking proteins hake as there is 12.9 grams of protein a swerving, as well as bunch of added minerals- all for only 66kcal (with water).
I used this for a couple of days, and whilst I didn't notice a dramatic weight loss, I did find that my hunger pangs were less, and the shakes gave me enough energy to keep me going. If you're going to use this as a diet supplement, I think it can help; I'm just not keen on the name of the product. I also like that Rodial position this product as part of range which encourages you to drink more water and moisturise at the same time.
Do I think the Rodial Crash Diet range is a strange move for Rodial? Yes, but this review is about the taste of the smoothie, and that's all I'll say on that topic.
