Not so long ago I told you all about the Australian brand of face serums called Sincare and now I've had a chance to try them out for myself. The Sincare brand is very unique in the fact that they address changes in the skin that are affected by your environment, SUGAR intake and even whether you work out a lot. Forget about falling into the 20-30 category or the 30-40 age bracket, they're all about addressing how your skin is reacting to its personal environment which is a very unique and tailored way of addressing skincare problems. I chose to test out the Sugar Hit serum which is created to tackle the effect of too much sugar consumption on the skin and as I have a very sweet tooth this sounded ideal for me.
The problems of a high sugar diet can lead to skin looking dull and lacklustre and the Sugar Hit booster serum targets the damaging effects of sugar indulgence.
They say:
'Sugar consumption is a major cause of premature ageing and is believed to cause almost as much premature ageing as the sun. Sugar causes collagen within the skin to stiffen, which in turn causes wrinkles, a process called glycation. Sugar consumption can make skin look sallow and increase free radicals, the natural enemy of beautiful skin.'
The serum itself comes in a clear tube so you can see the contents, which I liked. It had a pump dispenser which left a small bit of product on your hand so you could decide how much to use at any time. The consistency was quite light, kind of like a tinted moisturiser than traditional serum and the bottle was enormous.
The product was lightly tinted when I put it on the face and quickly sunk in. It made my skin feel immediately soft but I couldn't decide if it made a huge amount of difference- to start with, It felt odd to use something tinted at night, but Sincare says their product can be used under your usual moisturiser so I kept using a lot of my regular products, which was a nice bonus, as I quite like my routine.
The Sugar Hit serum contained Glycogen and Uva Ursi Leaf to assist in protecting the skin against sugar intake. It also used Lychee to assist with brightening the skin. After two weeks of use I did notice that my skin looked clearer and felt very soft to touch.
I'd never really considered (well, I tried to avoid thinking about it) how my diet would affect my face, but this made me reconsider my dietary choices as well as leave my skin feeling soft and plump.
Though I may have been skeptical to begin with I really came to love this product and am now very curious about the rest of the range. It's very innovative and I love seeing this in skincare.
