clairol_virtual_makeover.jpg (Main body image)A few weeks ago Clairol asked me if I'd like to find out my hair color alter ego and speak with Clairol Color Director Marie Robinson about home hair color tips, so I said sure! While I generally get salon highlights, I'm also a big home hair color experimenter (yes, I tried these dip dye pink highlights). I took a little quiz and visited their Try It On Studio to get a feel for the process before our interview.

It's a bit hard for me to review the Try It On Studio based on this experience, because unfortunately my "hair color alter ego" was "bubbly blonde" and the altered picture looked almost exactly the same as it did before. There was a subtle brightening, probably the result of all-over color versus the highlights I sport in the original. But by clicking around on their site I can say that the Try It On Studio is simple to use and really does give you an idea of how a new hair color would look. This type of technology has been around for a while, but the difference here is that once you find a color that suits you, you can find out exactly what type of color and the exact shade to go pick out at the drug store. Seems like it could cut back on a lot of "what have I done?" moments.
