Breast cancer is a subject that touches all of our lives, as we find that we either have firsthand experience - or know someone who does. October has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness month, and it's more than just wearing a pink ribbon, it's about making sure people check and look after their body, and raising money to help find a cure. This is the 19th year the campaign has run (with Liz Hurley the spokeslady once again), and it's prevalence has seen the word 'breast' now freely accepted in the public domain (you used not to be able to advertise anything with that word in it!) and mortality rates are falling.
The various factions of the Estee Lauder group- which include Clinique, Jo Malone and Aveda have created specially branded pink products where a portion of the proceeds go to the charity. $35.5 million was raised in 2010 - let's make 2011 a year to be proud of. I love that you're buying products you'd buy anyways - the additional charity element is just the icing on the cake. Here's to a pink #BCA month!
