It struck me today that as fun as Halloween is, it can also be quite wasteful - after all, how many times a year are you going to use all the stuff you buy for it..? Not many. So it got me thinking about what products you could buy as part of your halloween makeup that you can carry on using again long after October 31st.
Fake blood - they're aren't many occasions that call for a fake bloody neck, so instead of buying a bottle of sticky red liquid, go for a cheek stain instead - MeMeMe's Pussycat Cheek & Lip Tint is a very cheeky copy of Benefit's Benetint, but at the bargainous price of just £3.25 and you can use it again and again.
Coloured lipstick: unless you're really daring, you won't be wearing that much either - I was going to suggest making your own out of coloured pigment and clear lipgloss, but there are some shades of pigment you can't wear on your lips lest you poison yourself. Luckily a safer option is Illamasqua's Cream Pigment (£17) can be worn anywhere and comes in a multitude of shades including the green Bedaub above, the mushroom-y brown Hollow and deep purple Mould, which are also all very wearable eyeshadows.
Coloured hairspray: I know spraying a hair different colour was all over the catwalks this Fashion Month, but let's face it, it's one of those trends that isn't going to translate to real life that well. So instead of buying a can of hairspray to colour your hair, try dry shampoo instead! Try Batiste original for ghostly white hair (and their blonde, dark brunette and glitter versions could all work too) - plus you can easily rub it out again if you're facing an embarrassing walk home.
