NARS Concealer Review: 10 shades of fabulousness
I've been searching for a new concealer lately, but my precise requirements have been hard to fulfil. I do love classics such as YSL (a highlighter not a concealer) and my trusty Clinique Airbrush pen normally sorts me out, but I wanted something that was thicker and less luminous - something that would not just cover my shadows and blemishes but would make them vanish. I didn't want light diffusing concealment, I wanted good old fashioned hard core cover up - and nowhere was doing it. Formulas were chalky, caking, and downright weird in colour choices and I was at a loss.
When I first picked up the new NARS concealer I wasn't that inspired by it - it's a small creamy concealer that looks very tiny and first glance didn't make it look that exciting. Strangely, it ended up being the latest NARS product I've used the most number of times - and I was picking from brand new mascaras, eyeliners and eye shades here.
The texture is very light and creamy and comes in an amazing number of shades - they've added a bunch to their range. Seriously - see this!
Chantilly - for fairest of complexions, true ivory - New!
Vanilla - for fair complexions, tiny cast of pink tones
Honey - for light to medium complexion, warm peach tones
Custard - for light to medium complexions, yellow tones
Ginger - for medium complexions, golden tones
Biscuit - for medium to dark complexions, natural balance of pink and yellow tones - New!
Caramel - for medium to dark complexions, yellow and golden tones - New!
Amande - for medium to dark complexions, golden olive tones - New!
Café - for dark complexions, warm red tones - New!
Cacao - for dark complexions, deep-gold-brown tones - New!
I opted for the Vanilla shade, as I'm very pale and was impressed I didn't have to go for the lightest in the range as the Porcelain option normally suits (yes, they don't have that shade but most brands do!).
It's enriched with Vitamin E and that might help explain the creaminess, as although it gives pretty thick coverage it doesn't cake or feel too heavy on the face. It handled redness and circles like a dream and when tasked with covering blemishes (using an applicator) it was very gentle and didn't inflame them - but did give me the illusion of super smooth skin.
Sold - this concealer is perfect for anyone looking for slightly thicker than average coverage and not having any luck - till now.
