marc_jacobs_kumquat_rain_hibiscus.jpgThe new Marc Jacobs Splash perfumes for this summer deliver some of the tropical climate we've been craving (we've really had enough snow now): following last year's Patisserie collection, is the Tropical collection!

The new trio - still in the beautifully simple, square-cut glass bottles they always use for the Splash collections, which allow the colourful concoctions to be the main feature - includes the famously popular Rain, a light, watery floral scent that opens with wet cut grass (everyone's favourite smell), wild strawberries and clementine zest, leading to a heart of tropical rain accord, passion flower and white orchid, and finally mellowing into beech amber, tree moss and musks. Not hard to see why that's a favourite!

Also in the collection are two new scents: my favourite, Kumquat, a zesty citrus floral opening with tangerine pulp, bergamot and orange zest. The middle features the perfumes namesake (Kumquat, keep up) jasmine petals and tiger orchids, and finishing on notes of cedarwood. Hibiscus is the most exotic of the three, with raspberry, juicy manderin and pink peony in the opening notes, leading to a bright heart of hibiscus flower, tiare and pink freesia, and finishing with exotic woods, musks and vetiver.

Every scent is really light and wearable - perfect for hot summer days. The collection will be launching on April 4th and each bottle will set you back just £29!

Oh, and we're running a competition to win one of three sets of Marc Jacobs perfumes (including Daisy and Oh, Lola) here. Make sure you enter!
