It's not very often a beauty product unlike anything else comes along - that's not to say that the beauty industry isn't full of innovation (it is, and I'm pretty sure its second only to NASA) - but the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stains really are something new.
These are somewhere between a lipstick and a lipgloss, with the colour and intensity of lipstick and the comfort and moisture of a gloss. The best of both worlds basically! Oh and they also have an excellent applicator - a patented heart-shaped spatula that is perfect for controlling where the colour goes (very important when applying a stain) and great for applying to the cupid's bow.
It's a massive range too: there are 18 colours, so there's really something for every occasion, from natural everyday shades to show-stoppingly glamourous ones. We tried three of them: 2 (a dark purple-red), 12 (a coral-ly pink) and 17 (a bubblegum pink) - first applied, it feels very liquid and quite wet - like a gloss but completely without the sticky, gloopyness...
... But then dries down to a really comfortable, moisturising, semi-opaque formula.
And a second coat makes it more solid and glossy:

They last for ages (I took those pictures yesterday and I still have faint strips of colour on my arm) and they're a great way to wear gloss if you usually don't usually like the texture, plus amazing colour payoff. Get them for £22.50 each at Selfridges.
