Zooey Deschanel is the first to admit that she's remembered primarily for her bangs and eyes ("I'm bangs and eyes," she said recently), so her getting a contract with Pantene Pro-V has really been a long time coming.

When she first got the gig, she told us that she was a "real girly girl" who loves "doing my hair and experimenting with different styles," and I have to admit I scoffed a bit (like she has time for all that). But it turns out she was telling the truth: she really knows her stuff.

The actress revealed that she's a fan of Velcro rollers - she has a styling system and everything! "I prefer a roller set: a combination of Velcro rollers on the top and maybe a hot roller on the bottom," she said. "You have to work with your head shape. You need to create volume in certain places so your head looks symmetrical. So if you tease your hair at the crown, spray it a little bit, and put rollers in; it can really change the shape of your face and flatter you."

Of course no hair conversation with Zooey is complete without a mention of her famous fringe, and it looks like they'll be part of her signature look for a while. "I've grown them [bangs] out before, but I feel more comfortable with them," she explained. "I sweep them sometimes for a little change of pace. They have their own personality!"

As the face of the Beautiful Lengths collection Zooey is also promoting the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Program, which aims to raise money to produce wigs for women battling cancer. "I was really excited to learn about this program because when women lose their hair a lot of times they lose confidence," Zooey explained. "You can also encourage people to try a new fun short style. If I could cut my hair today I totally would. I love a Louise Brooks bob!"
