anne_hathaway_shave_hair.jpgI have a thing about hair. I can't watch people brush it wrong, and the sound of it snapping actually makes me shudder. It might be because I cherish my own so much - it's thick, long and curly and a pretty unique (and natural) shade of red streaked with blonde. I would apologize for being so self-indulgent if it wasn't such a big change that I can be positive about it because it hasn't always been like that, what with the traditional trouble you get for being 'ginger'. Anyway as I've grown up I have actually grown to love it (also being in an industry where hairstylists constantly tell you how lovely your hair is helps quite a bit), and so I couldn't dream of cutting it all off. Plus I often use it as my shield against the world - it's very useful for hiding in.

Clearly it's lucky for me I never got the urge to be an actress, because Anne Hathaway has recently shaved off all of her hair for her part as Fantine in the film of Les Misérables!

The actress officially debuted her new style (which you can see in the trailer for Les Mis below) at Stella McCartney's Resort 2013 show in New York and revealed that she's not actually that eager for it to grow back.

"I did it for a film, so it really wasn't about me and my security," she told NY Mag, adding, "I'm just so pleased with how I look, so I now quite like having short hair."

Anne's not the only one who's gone for the chop for a film role - our recently declared Beauty Hero Charlize Theron has also done it for Mad Max: Fury Road. Charlize's stylist Leslie Fremar told Instyle about when she first found out what her client had done.

"She sent me a picture, and I said, 'Where the heck is all your hair?!'" Leslie told them. "But Charlize takes her trade very seriously. She's not afraid to put herself out there and transform into the character she's playing. And let's be honest, she's so beautiful." True... but her hair!! Are you precious about your hair or could you cut it all off?
