Whoever's doing Blake Lively's hair, we want them to work wonders on ours! We didn't think Blake would be able to top the fabulous forties waves she sported on Monday, but last night at the Savages New York premiere, she upped the ante once again as she tackled another big hair trend - the fishtail plait - giving it a youthful spin with lots and lots of fluffy texture. That's one fat plait!

It's not the first time Blake's done brilliant things with braids - her soft, textured 2011 Green Lantern premiere look remains one of our top celeb hair looks from the red carpet. But last night's new take on the look was a sleeker, more dramatic version. It made Blake look older and more in control...and also worked perfectly with her dramatic jewellery.

To copy the look for yourself, start with hair that's at least a day old (you'll notice Blake's roots look a tiny bit oily - you need that grip). Secure in a high ponytail and backcomb the lengths. If you have short or fine hair, you may need to add clip-in extensions at the base of the ponytail - it looks like at least the last 5 or 6 inches of Blake's braid is fake.

Then, follow our fishtail plait how-to guide to braid the lengths of the hair. Fasten with a clear elastic and then gently loosen the hair, using a very fine comb to backcomb tiny sections a bit more to add bulk and fluff!
