As much as we try to incorporate beauty trends into our everyday make up routine, reality is most of us will normally find ourselves sticking to the same old process using our everyday neutral tones, perhaps with a pop of lip colour if we're lucky. But channelling a beauty trend can be just as statement making as trying out a new fashion one, and this season the Under the Sea (it's not as scary as it sounds) trend is one of the hottest ones to try out.

We showed you a while back how to work the bold eye liner trend into your look this summer and today we're doing the same with Under the Sea. The aquatic-like trend first cropped up on the catwalks of Versace, Chanel and Louis Vuitton for their Spring / Summer 2012 collections where the theme ran through the make up right down the clothing. Incorporating this trend into your looks doesn't mean painting shells onto your nails and going for nineties feel pearlescent lippy (although that might be pretty cool), but taking elements of the look and giving it a new and fresh feel.

Instead of always opting for smokey black eyes on those nights out, why not opt for some metallic iridescent aqua shades? Think petrol-like multi coloured green tones and turquoises. For nails always opt for that sheen with pearly whites, metallic golds and greens. If you're feeling experimental, look out for Ciate's 3D pearl manicure and why not invest in some of SHU UEMURA's Exclusive Mother of Pearl Lashes. Go on. They're only £150...
