In my line of work I try a number of products, so not many make it into the holy grail that is my permanent makeup bag (DiorShow mascara, Rimmel eyebrow pencil, MAC blush etc) but one of my most beloved products WAS my Clinique Dewy Smooth Anti Aging Foundation in #4 New Ivory. Despite finding the words 'anti ageing' an issue (I started wearing this at 23) it became my go to foundation, giving me flawless soft looking skin that radiated health.
HOWEVER IT IS NO MORE!
I discovered this a few weeks ago when my trusty bottle was empty and I went to the counter to buy a refill. The sales assistant pityingly told me it had been discontinued MONTHS ago (so no chance to stock up) and that I should try their Repairwear Laser Focus All-Smooth Makeup SPF 15 as it was meant as its replacement. I took a sample home and whaddya know - it WAS NOT A PERFECT REPLACEMENT.
It was a nice soft foundation, but I didn't get that amazing soft focus photoshop finish I was used too.
I know I'll eventually find a replacement (what do you suggest: Lancome? Givenchy? Rimmel?) but that's not the point - I thought I HAD my go to foundation and I'm very upset it's gone. It's one thing to outgrow a product, but to have it discontinued on you is a serious shock and I fell like I'm having some BEAUTY PTSD going on. I know it's very first world to be upset about something like this, but I am pretty unhappy - I don't like change being forced upon me like this.
