Travel sized beauty for your Summer holiday
With so many more of us suffering at the hands of budget airlines' hold luggage costs, packing the absolute minimum to sneak it on as hand luggage has become a fine art. But with liquid restrictions still in place, you can just chuck in your usual beauty favourites.
Luckily, the brands behind some of the most vital basics are aware we need them when we're on holiday as much as we need them at home, and there are plenty of great travel sizes available.
Obviously, you could just decant your full sizes into smaller bottles (check your nearest pound shop for bottle sets - don't buy the pricey ones in Boots!) but with so many good 3 for 2 and and 4 for 3 offers on at high street chemists, sometimes it works out just as cheap (and a lot less of a faff) to invest in teeny versions of your faves.
Here are a few of our top picks, all under the 100ml hand baggage limit
Holiday hair takes a beating, so a good treatment is essential to get it looking good for evenings out. Moroccanoil's tiny miniature bottle will last long after you get back, but the small 25ml size is much easier to pop in a small suitcase. You use such a tiny amount of this every day that lugging the full size around with you is a bit of a waste of vital space. Just double-check the rules on glass bottles at the airport if this is going in hand luggage - you don't want to lose a £12 beauty product at security!
Sun protection is vital if you're going anywhere hot, but you may not want to take a 200ml sun cream with you for a long weekend. This spray is teeny tiny, but as it's the 'once' formula, you use less of it for top-ups (though be aware if you're swimming or sweating, the 'once' rule doesn't apply). One of these easily lasted me a long weekend in Spain and I can back completely burn-free!
Enough facial wipes to see you through a long weekend, morning and night. These are also great for putting in your hand luggage for a long flight - they're much kinder than baby wipes and will also remove makeup if you've been a bit 'experimental' at duty free. On long flights you're much better to remove slap and wear plenty of moisturiser than keep a full face of makeup on in all that stale, stuffy air!
There's a reason this baby is one of Soap & Glory's bestsellers! A delicious, rich body butter, this will help keep your skin soft and fabulous while you're away. If you're planning on sunbathing, you'll probably want an aftersun or aloe vera gel to help cool the skin, but if your trip is more about shopping, sightseeing and big nights out, this will prolong the fake tan you've no doubt applied before you left!
If you know you'll be wearing a lot of makeup on your trip, don't forget to pack a makeup remover that'll remove all traces of it at night. MAC has released the 'sized to go' range of miniature skincare and glow products - the dinky cleansing oil is a great buy.
Many Lush products come in handy 100g bottles which make them perfect for hand luggage and holidays. Sonic Death Monkey is a re-release of an old Lush favourite; a rich chocolate and lime confection that feels really rich and gorgeous. It may be expensive, but it contains some really luxury natural ingredients, and if you're not going to treat yourself on holiday, when will you?!
