beach_nail_polish.jpgIf you're getting ready to jet off on holiday, we're about to address one area of holiday preparation you might have missed out - nails. I've just got back from mine (returning to this weather from a 40-degree beach is hard times so be warned) and as well as the relaxing break it promised to be, it also turned out to be a nail polish revelation.

During my preparation I remembered everything obvious: suncream, SPF hair protection spray, after sun - but one thing I didn't think about were hard-wearing nail polishes that would stand up to heat, sea salt (which has a weird dissolving effect) and chipping.

It just goes to show where my priorities between style and practicality lie because instead of purposefully picking a long lasting, durable colour, I just went for the pretty using Rimmel London's LYCRA Pro Nail Varnish in Sea Green (371) (£4.59) topped with a coat of Models Own Indian Ocean (£5) - you can see I was in a holiday mood! Thankfully for me though, they proved to be an absolute dream team as everyone else's nail polish chipped and weathered away in the sea water after just a day, my nails persevered mostly unaffected for a week!

Well, mostly everyone's polish chipped away, with one exception - Rococo nail varnish in VIP (£12) turned out to be an absolute heavyweight in durability, with not one single chip the entire week.
