lush_emotional_brilliance.jpgWe've been looking forward to checking out Lush's brand new make up line Emotional Brilliance ever since it was announced. I wasn't sold on the concept that wearing a particular colour could alter your mood in any way, but now that I've tried the products I'm completely sold. Not that they claim to be magic - it's more about representing the way you feel using colour, like you do with clothes.

Anyway, my excitement was warranted because the products are actually really great - excellent colours, good quality formulas and all keeping the style and environmental principles that Lush and its customers are so proud of (seriously they put so much thought into things - the bands that hold the label on the lid are hairbands to tie your hair back during application!) .

Among the products we tried were one of the Skin Tints (£12), which are an add on product to accompany the colour range. The Tints are formulated using simmered oats, almond and jojoba oils, cocoa butter and orange flower water and can be mixed into a moisturiser to give it a hint of colour. We tried Charisma, which is a golden brown that would be great on olive skin tones...

... and Feeling Young, which is really cool. Quite like MAC's famous Strobe Cream, it's a gold-toned white cream that reflects light to highlight the skin - great on cheekbones, browbones and décolletage.

The mascara, Eyes Right (£12), is another add on - I haven't given this a proper test yet, but the colour seems to be good, although the brush is quite short and I'm not sure how well I'd be able to apply with it.

The colours in the range are actually brilliant - really highly pigmented and vivid. We got hold of Liquid Lips (£14.50) in Vibrance, a metallic orange and Passionate, a two-toned blue pink. Staying power for these - especially Passionate, is very impressive (actually Passionate could leave you with pink stained lips for a while). Each colour uses Ultrabalm as the base, so they're really moisturising too.

The Liquid Eyeliner (£14.50) though is my favourite product - really great staying power, amazing colour and you get loads of it for your money (usually eyeliners hold 2g of product - this holds 5g). We tried Fantasy, one of the two products in the range that has a no-smudge formula - and it really does. I (and everyone else in the office) have completely fallen in love with the colour, a bright molten gold, which I'm currently wearing along my lower lashline.

The collection drops on the 21st July at Lush. What will you be buying?
