We all know the difference a good brow shaping can make for your face. But the dramatic difference brows can make doesn't end there. I've paid special attention to my brows ever since reading that Bobbi Brown said that brow grooming was extra important for girls in glasses. But since then I've really noticed how much more polished someone looks when their brows are extra neat. It's part of that glossy perfection celebs and other impossibly chic women exude.
In the past I've used the popularSmashbox Brow Tech but was recently sent Anastasia Beverly Hills products to try. The Smashbox products used to be a duo, but now is a trio with brow wax and two colors of powder. I suppose this change was made to help you blend your own shade of brow powder, but I fear that I'd just be getting half the amount of the color I really wanted. Anastasia's Brow Powder Duo gives you a compact that's half filled with a lighter shade of brow powder and half filled with a darker shade. The brow wax is an entirely separate product. So while you do have to buy two products, I've no doubt they will last much, much longer than those packaged together in the same compact. I apply the powder, and sometimes the wax as well, with a small angled brush.
When choosing a brow powder color I would suggest going a shade lighter than you would think. I have naturally dirty blonde hair and don't color my brows at all (eek!) and I use the lightest shade in most brow powders, I tried the Golden Blonde shade of Anastasia Brow Powder Duo and it's perfect. Too dark brow powder is just like too dark pencil, quite obvious and distracting from the natural look that looks best on brows. This product just helps you fill in bare or sparse sections of brow. Like your brows, but better.
Then to keep them that was I tried the Brow Fix colorless wax chubby pencil. In the past I've used a wax that had to be applied with a brush. I think the brush application offers a bit more control, so I have used my brush with the Anastasia Brow Fix as well. On most days I just use it as a stick though, it's quick and easy and gets the job done.
Other brow products offered by famous brow expert Anastasia include the Brow Wiz ultra slim mechanical pencil with a spooley brush to easily blend for a natural look, the Perfect Brow Pencil with a velvety tipped pencil and spooley brush, and Precision Tweezers. If there's ever a time for precision, it's with tweezers, right? The specialized slanted tip and calibrated tension helps grab even the finest hairs.
