marchesa.jpgWith the hordes of other designer fragrances hitting the market (including the upcoming Florabotanica by Balenciaga that we told you about yesterday), I'm actually surprised Marchesa haven't released one before now, but they've just announced their first, Marchesa Parfume d'Extase!

Creative designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig aimed to evoke the same glamour and luxury of the clothing in a a perfume, and they pretty much managed it even without smelling the scent - just look at that. What a beauty.

"Eveningwear evokes an emotion, and this scent does the same thing," said Georgina. I agree. When I see a Marchesca gown I experience the feeling of lust, and when I see this amazingly detailed, crystal bottle I feel the same thing. "We looked at our handbags and the signature crystals they have, and we really wanted to incorporate that element," she said. According to WWD, Malin Ericson of Vanessa Stevens + Company created the clear faceted bottle to evoke raw quartz crystal, banded with hand-set crystal accents resembling a bow.

As for the actual perfume, it'll be a floral with top notes of iris, freesia and young violet leaves; a heart of night-blooming jasmine, and a base of iris root, ambrox and musk. Apparently the Marchesa team steered clear of anything sweet. "We didn't want anything too sweet. Georgina and I don't like perfumes that can smell sort of sickly, so that was very important when we were going through the process," said Keren.

The perfume will launch in September. Like?
