A few weeks ago shu uemura invited me to a make up masterclass to introduce their new color atelier refillable palette system, which is really great.
They've designed two new palettes with Japanese architect Kumiko Inui with the environment in mind, trying to devise an eco-friendly concept where there would be the bare minimum of materials. It's actually really simple - you just pull out the side, put in your colours, and then slide it back in. That's the palette bit, but it's what's inside that's most interesting!
There are 55 pressed eye shadow colours to fill it with, £11 each and all separated into different textures and finishes, which are:
• matte (m): a velvety, even finish gives vivid color with a smooth finish
• pearl (p): a silky shimmer of light for luminous radiance
• iridescent (ir): captivating shades offer glimmering reflections of changing colors
• metallic (me): smooth like liquid with a metallic glow
• glitters (g): abundant sparkles for glistening glamour
and also 30 shades of glow on blush (£16 each) in matte and pearl finishes. Each palette can hold four eyeshadows, two eyeshadows and a blush or two blushers, what ever you like. In creating my palette, I could not, as usual, resist the glitter. I went for a beautiful pale gold made up of differently sized glitter particles that is stunning on, a metallic bronze colour with a gold micro glitter running through it and a beautiful peachy blush blush.

The great thing about this system is how travel friendly and convenient it is - especially for blusher which always seem to be qute bulky - and how easy it is to swap the colours around, so you can make up the perfect palette for every single day.
The quad palette will also come in black and they're both £10. Look out for them in September at shuuemura.co.uk.
Oh, and Really Ree took some great pics of the event which you can see here!
