aminaka-wilmont_ss13_look.jpgIf there's been any overall trends during fashion month, its that a return to 80s punk and 90s grunge is definitely on the cards for 2013. 80's punk was evident backstage at Aminaka Wilmont yesterday, where Kenna and ghd were creating a rockabilly, tough-girl undercut-ponytail hybrid.

The idea behind it was to create an aggressive, 'redneck' style with an ultimately still feminine edge. To do this, the hair was prepped with ghd Root Lift Spray to give the hair some grip ("You should always use a product like that when you're about to put the hair up, to give it some guts, especially if it's clean," says Kenna.), tightly pulled back and then braided into two flat plaits that were then coiled onto the back of the head and pinned in place.

Two ponytail headpieces were flattened out with ghd stylers and pinned onto the head to create a wide ponytail...

...and then a faux fringe was added high on the head so it was heavier, and choppily cut short 'so it looks almost moth eaten'.

Make up, by MAC, kept to the same theme, with rock and roll flicked eyeliner, stronger and thicker under the eye and giving a dangerous looking angle to the eyes, which worked really well with the fringe. Transfers of the floral print on the clothes were also applied to the faces, arms and legs of some of the models.
