todd-lynn-ss13-hair-plait.jpgI hope the models at Todd Lynn SS13 today didn't have anywhere to go too soon after the show, because taking out the hair was going to take some time!

Wealthy Victorian women lost in Africa was the inspiration for this look - think Wendy from Peter Pan lost on a Safari, and you're pretty much there - so refined but weathered was the overall feel of the hair and make up.

We went backstage with London Fashion Week sponsors Toni & Guy, who were creating super-long plaited ponytails for this look, which meant, hair extensions and lots of them. Label M Volume mousse was combed through wet hair to give a plumped up base, and hair was then blow dried smooth, with a low side parting.

Extensions two shades lighter than the models hair were then glued in to bring the hair down to the base of the spine, with the ombre effect giving the illusion that the ends of the hair had been bleached by the hot sun. A combination of Dry Shampoo, Matte paste and Resurrection dust were used to create a rough, dry texture, and then hair was plaited down the back., keeping the base really tight so the plait puffed up at the base.

As for make up, Lynn wanted it to be natural and non makeup-y but glowing, so Maybelline used a variety of golden browns to give the models that sun weathered look. FitMe foundation gave a dewy base, topped with Dream Terra Bronzer to give that faux-sunkissed glow. Color Tattoo in Pink Gold was swept across eyelids, to give then a sutble sheen, and then Master Smokey Pencils in Chocolate and Master Kohl in back defined the eyes, which were finished with Great Lash Mascara in Brown.
