K&M attends the Paris launch of shu uemura x Karl Lagerfeld
Held at Espace Commines right in the centre of Paris, beauty editors from all around the world attended the black, white and red themed launch party - as well as Karl Lagerfeld himself, of course - all presided over by a towering blow up version of Mon Shu, the character Karl created to be the mascot of his collection.
And there was no escaping her: Mon Shu appeared everywhere, on balloons, in the form of a real-life model, who strutted among the guests all night and, most excitingly for us, in doll form inside mechanical grabber funfair machines. Shockingly I won one, which has never happened to me before. She must be good luck.
Mon Shu was even on the food: dessert canapés echoed the lines amalgamation of French and Japanese style, with tiny boxes of Red Bean and Green Tea ice cream printed with her face nestled next to Mon Shu stamped macaroons. Here I am modelling said macaroon.
The collection was dotted around the room for us to stare at, as well as a counter where you could get the lashes from the collection applied, as well as a Mon Shu manicure with the amazing nail appliqués that come with the nail polishes in the collection.
Such an incredible event, especially since we've been beyond excited ever since we heard about the collaboration. I can't wait to swatch the products for you - because of Karl's unparalleled determination to making everything he is involved in perfect, and the history between him and the brand, it's a really strong, exciting group of products and we predict a fast sell out fast. For now though here's a close up of those lashes:
Amazing. Stay tuned for a full review of the products, and visit su-kl.com for more information.
