We were wondering where London's crazy streak had gone this season - there's been lots of androgynous looks and pretty girly blush and pink lips, but so far not so much of that off-the-wall, creative attitude to make up we see during London Fashion Week. Well, except at Vivienne Westwood, obviously. Then Louise Gray's SS13 show happened yesterday, and we were back to good old mental London that we know and love.
Taking an amped up, punky version of Marie Antoinette-French renaissance style, models walked the catwalk with make up that could have been scribbled on using crayons. Eyebrows were blanked out and drawn back on again, in cartoonish crown shapes, while stripes of blue lined just under the brow bone. Lips were super bright orange, lined with a darker orange over the lipline which gave them a 2D look, and the whole thing was finished off with a huge blue beauty mark.
As for hair, which was by Sam McKnight, it matched up to the wild makeup in big, rockabilly backcombed beehives, topped with Louise's humorous headpieces. Loved it.
