Expect to see a lot of Nicki Minaj around as she plugs her latest project - her perfume, also titled Nicki Minaj. The singer has been speaking to WWD about the scent and her ambitions in the beauty industry - turns out, she has a lot.
"I feel like I have a knack for picking out good beauty stuff," she told them. Of course, this means that she's looking out for someone to do a make up line with. "I'm thinking about who I want to partner with because it's got to be something with quality. I don't want to do something that doesn't represent me or that doesn't feel rich. I want people who like my makeup to feel like their makeup would look exactly the same way. I think I'd be the happiest girl alive." And what could we expect from this line? As if you needed telling, "Pink lipstick, pink blush, huge eyelashes."
As for her current venture, we finally have a note description! If the promises of "angels playing" wasn't enough to tempt you into interest, the scent's top notes are star fruit, Italian mandarin and succulent boysenberry; lotus flower and starry jasmine petals make up the heart, and it dries down into vanilla, caramelized pear, musks and woods.
If you're worried that it'll smell just like every other celebrity perfume (I often envisage a vat of Britney Spears Fantasy being rebranded again and again), Nicki has promised that it won't. "I wanted it to be a brand-new, exciting addition to the market. It has an amazing combination of a playful feeling as well as a sultry feeling that lingers on. It smells like a fantasy to me."
She also revealed to WWD what she was thinking when she designed that bottle. "They asked me, 'What do you feel is a real extension of you?' And I said, 'There's nothing more synonymous with Nicki Minaj than a pink wig. If I could get that on the bottle, that would really make me feel like this fragrance is a part of me - my history and my future."
