mac_glamour_daze_campaign.jpgFor Christmas, MAC have gone a different way from the usual dark colours and sparkle, and instead embraced a kitchy, cute array of pastel cosmetics with their limited edition Glamour Daze collection (along with the Fabulousness gift collection).

It's actually quite a diverse collection for all its sweet kitchyness: pale pastel greens mix with festive metallics, bright fuschias and dark berry shades in Extra Dimension eyeshadow, Fluidline eyeliner, Powder Blush, Extra Dimension Skinfinish, Nail Lacquer, Lipstick, Lipglass and Kohl Power Eye Pencil. It's got beautiful campaign images too, like the fifties beauty above (and how amazing are those nails? Reminds me of the Chanel nail art from their Haute Couture show)

We've swatched a couple of the more Autumn/Wintery of the products, the Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Round Midnight and the Glamourdaze Lipstick.

Extra Dimension Eyeshadow (£16.50, Selfridges) is a buildable formula thats enables you to play with it to produce sheer to heavier coverage, depending on how much you layer it on. Round Midnight is described by MAC as a dark burgundy - although it's more purple - with a metallic finish. It has brilliant pigmentation: blended it creates a wash of smokey greyish purple and built up to a really strong purple colour, especially applied wet.

The Glamourdaze Lipstick (£15.50, Selfridges) is the most A/W lipstick in the collection, a plum with a glossy finish. It's slightly too translucent to be fully opaque, but it has good coverage and the gloss ensures it isn't drying. It feathers slightly so lipliner first would be a good idea.

The collection is out right now - check it out at Selfridges here.
