lipstick_queen_dancing_queen.jpgIt must be so much fun to be Poppy King. We met up with the lipstick maven a few weeks ago to talk about her Lipstick Queen line, and she told us that pretty much whenever she thinks of a lipstick she wants but doesn't have, she just makes one. Amazing.

This is how her new Dancing Queen set came into existence - Poppy wanted a matte-finish sheer lipstick with a shimmer (which I've certainly never seen before) and set about creating it. The result is three party-tastic shades named after dances; Cha Cha, The Hustle and Electric Slide. They really are packed with glitter, so if that's not your thing you'll want to steer clear of these, but jojoba oil and shea butter also makes them incredibly moisturising, so they gilde on beautifully and are super comfortable to wear.

The Hustle is a honey nude which offers very little colour - this is you if you want a natural matte lip but with some added party time sparkle. The other two are shades of red: Cha Cha is a dark burgundy red which leaves a purpleish wash of matte colour and a lot pinky-purple glitter (i think its the most glittery colour). Electric Slide is my favourite, a bright 'flirty' rose that leaves a just-bitten flush, speckled with red glitter - the perfect Christmas lipstick. Swatches are below (Left to right: Electric Slide, Cha Cha, The Hustle):

They didn't really photograph great on the lips in our office light, but this is how Cha Cha looks on:

Again, if you're not a glitter fan these aren't for you - the shimmer isn't in the least subtle, but it is a much more sophisticated way to wear it then in glosses. Great for parties and a fantastic Christmas present too, especially for lipstick fanatics who know Poppy's history, who for anyone who loves fun make up.

You can find the set at Space NK at the end of the month for £38.
