Anne Hathaway's lone Oscars nail art
Nail art at award shows this year has been conspicuous only by its absence - the catwalks during fashion month so far have made it apparent that nail art is on its way out, at least according to the fashion world. But then again the Oscars have never really been much of a place for jazzy nails - much like your wedding it's a place for chic, timeless shades that (hopefully) leave the statement making to your award, and don't embarrass you in years to come - so it's not really a surprise that nails were chicly bare at this years ceremony.
Although the looklast year was a mix of subtle nudes and gothic dark shades, this year the sexy goth was abandoned completely and nudes ruled the red carpet, even on the one piece of nail art we did spot, on good old Oscar winning Anne Hathaway. She never lets us down.
It was so subtle we barely saw it (although really if you're wearing that diamond no one is going to be looking at anything else), consisting of an accent nail of silver calligraphy over a pink-nude manicure courtesy of L'Oréal Paris' The Palace of Life Nail Lacquer. Apparently the letters were the Best Supporting Actress winner's grandmothers' initials, a good luck charm created for her by nail artist Tom Bachik. Looks like it worked!
