Cara Delevingne is the face of YSL Babydoll mascara
Yves Saint Laurent have launched a brand new newest mascara, Babydoll fronted by the world's busiest model, Cara Delevingne!
Babydoll - sorry, Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll to use its full name - has a double patent for the thin but dense brush which has a mix of sturdy thick and fine bristles: the thick ones are widely spaced to coat and magnify lashes, and the finer ones are closely spaced to guarantee every lash is defined. The formula also has two patents, based on a molecule called Graphane which is apparently hot in the science world right now (it was discovered by some scientists who won the Nobel Peace Prize for Physics in 2010): mimicking the properties of this molecule gives the mascara an ultra-fine, ultra-flexible and ultra-resistant texture.
So that's the boring science bit, but does it do what it says? Hell yeah - this mascara is going to be a huge hit. Lengthening and volumising, it delivers lift and curl while feeling really light and natural to the touch - no flaky crispyness here. They say it has 24-hour hold, and though I didn't test this, it did stay put on me from 11am to 9pm without smudging or flaking, coming off super easily with warm water (which might not be a plus for you if you chop a lot of onions/really like The Notebook, but it is convenient).
That's not all - Babydoll is being launched with a mini collection of cosmetics to go with it. Because it's all about the eyes, five Babydoll Eyeliners are the centre of it, in Light Golden Brown, Light Blue, Light Amethyst, Golden Reflections and Rose Babydoll (£24 each). At the launch last week we were invited to try the graphic eye look that this collection promotes - you can see me wearing Rose Babydoll with the mascara below. Never thought I'd ever wear pink eyeliner but I actually loved it.
The collection is centerd around fuchsia, so the mascara and eyeliner are accompanied by Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres and La Laque Couture nail polish in Rose Babydoll, both vivid bright pink, which you can see in the image above.
The Babydoll collection will be out on 29th May, exclusively at yslbeauty.co.uk. Will you be getting it?
