Glow in the dark for Halloween with Make Up Forever Fluo Night Black Light pigment

FLUO_NIGHT_Blacklight_makeup_forever.jpgI'd planned to be The Corpse Bride for Halloween this year, but then I saw Make Up For Ever's Fluo Night Black Light Pigment, and I'm thinking of reworking my look just so I can use one.

As you can probably guess, it's a powder pigment that shines fluorescent under UV light! And this doesn't just mean glow-in-the-dark eyeshadow - it can also be mixed into primers, moisturisers, foundations, mascaras, lipglosses and powders, so you can use to them to create a really dramatic but easy Halloween beauty look.

They cost £12.50 each and are available here.

Emma Watson's beauty must-haves (and her eyebrow shaping secret)

emma_watson_gq_awards.jpgIn Emma Watson's recent interview with Elle magazine, as well as talking about her life and stuff, she also revealed where she gets her eyebrows done!

Well I was excited about that anyway. Especially since she doesn't go to some hellishly expensive lady who learnt a secret way of threading at the age of four and costs a million pounds - she goes to Blink Brow Bar!

She told them, "I get my eyebrows threaded. Blink is really good and reliable. They listen to you, which is good, because they can get carried away, like hairdressers"

Along with the obligatory Lancome stuff, Emma also revealed that her make up bag contains Yves Saint Laurent's Creme de Blush in Powderey Rose ("I have to wear blush or some kind of bronzer because I am so pale and English, so I am really into cream blushers.") and says she always buys Georgio Armani Beauty's Luminous Silk Powder and High Precision Retouch Concealor: "I am a creature of habit and like to find what really works and keep buying it."

Jo Malone Red Roses Body & Hand Wash Review; Breast cancer Awareness month

jo malone red roses wash.jpg

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Jo Malone is proud to be participating. They're hekping raise money for this great cause with sales from the proceeds of the Jo Malone Red Roses Body & Hand Wash, and they're donating a generous £5 out of every £30 purchase- which is far higher than other companies.

I've been testing out the product, and it's rather lovely- an extra incentive foir people to buy it! Packaged in a rather beautiful Jo Malone box, you get a large pump dispensing body wash that's coloured a delicate rose. When you pump, an even amount of pretty pink liquid gets dispensed and it smells a delicate floral rose flavour with a hint of violet and lemon. It lathers up really nicely and feels great to use- non greasy, enough bubbles and evenly distributes the scent.

I love how the product made me feel lightly fragrant after use, and the packaging was lovely, The whole experience was that of luxury and indulgence and October is a great time to treat yourself to something comforting!

When Lindsay Lohan met the contouring brush

lindsay_lohan_court_blusher_makeup.jpgWell Lindsay Lohan is in trouble yet again, but we were less surprised to hear she was back in court then we were shocked to see what she'd done to her face for the occasion.

What. The. Hell.

The actress seemed to have used a dirty brown shade of bronzer as blusher to define her cheekbones, but as I think you'll all agree, she turned out looking like someone suffering from a terminal illness.

Or a zombie. Maybe she's trying out an easy Halloween look?

Halloween makeup you can use every day

halloween_makeup_items.jpgIt struck me today that as fun as Halloween is, it can also be quite wasteful - after all, how many times a year are you going to use all the stuff you buy for it..? Not many. So it got me thinking about what products you could buy as part of your halloween makeup that you can carry on using again long after October 31st.

Fake blood - they're aren't many occasions that call for a fake bloody neck, so instead of buying a bottle of sticky red liquid, go for a cheek stain instead - MeMeMe's Pussycat Cheek & Lip Tint is a very cheeky copy of Benefit's Benetint, but at the bargainous price of just £3.25 and you can use it again and again.

Coloured lipstick: unless you're really daring, you won't be wearing that much either - I was going to suggest making your own out of coloured pigment and clear lipgloss, but there are some shades of pigment you can't wear on your lips lest you poison yourself. Luckily a safer option is Illamasqua's Cream Pigment (£17) can be worn anywhere and comes in a multitude of shades including the green Bedaub above, the mushroom-y brown Hollow and deep purple Mould, which are also all very wearable eyeshadows.

Coloured hairspray: I know spraying a hair different colour was all over the catwalks this Fashion Month, but let's face it, it's one of those trends that isn't going to translate to real life that well. So instead of buying a can of hairspray to colour your hair, try dry shampoo instead! Try Batiste original for ghostly white hair (and their blonde, dark brunette and glitter versions could all work too) - plus you can easily rub it out again if you're facing an embarrassing walk home.

Can you think of any multi tasking products that could be spooky enough for Halloween? Tell us in the comments!

Yay or Nay Wednesday: Gwen Stefani wears makeup everyday - do you?

gwen_stefani_loreal.jpgGwen Stefani, who is one of my all-time girl crushes, gave an interview about her now-iconic beauty style - revealing that she once veered away from her trademark blonde locks to become a redhead!

She explained to InStyle, "Right after we came home from the first No Doubt tour I felt like I might get recognized, so I colored my hair red. And I hated it."

Gwen also revealed that she wears makeup all the time, everyday. Even if she's not leaving the house. "The makeup goes on every day, even if I'm not going anywhere," she said. This admission attracted a lot of 'god, just be yourself' comments from readers, but I'm on her side - there aren't many days I'm not wearing makeup either (I always knew we could be friends), and if it makes you look and feel better why not? What about you guys?

Got the bug? Vote on more Yay or Nays at Catwalk Queen, The Bag Lady and Shoewawa.
