MAC's New York fashion Week Widget

I've finally made it up to fashion week (a little late due to snow delays) and am ready to start reporting live from inside the tents and around the city! One of my particular pleasures this season will be interviewing MAC makeup artists backstage before the shows as they're creating the looks we'll see on the runway. First up is Jason Wu tomorrow! Until then, check out MAC's fashion week widget below to see what MAC artists have to say!

Stargazer Liquid Eye Liner : Product review

starliner.jpg

The search for the perfect eyeliner is an ongoing one, as I require any liner I use to be capable of multi-tasking. it's not enough to create feline flicks, I also want thick lines, long lasting abilities, and if it's quick drying, so much the better. In this quest I've tried many products, from top shelf beauty brands to bargain basement finds, and my recent acquisition comes with an extremely low price tag, but incredibly potent properties.

When I was younger Stargazer was the brand loved by the Gothic looking girls at school, but though the brand still retains multicoloured pigment shadows, the formulas are much more mature.

The Bag Lady's Makeup Bag of the Week

makeup-bag.jpgI didn't have a clue how to pronounce their name at the time (I've since learned that it's "ax-en-tee-oo"), but I fell a little bit in love with Afxentiou when I spotted their handmade washbags and other accessories at Clothes Show Live at the end of last year. You know those times when you see something that would make a great present for a friend, buy it as a completely altruistic gesture then realise when you come to wrap it that there's no way you could bear to give it away? That was me with my Afxentiou cosmetic bag in December. We just couldn't be parted.

It may look like nothing more than a simple sponge bag with a basic polkadot print, but these bags are beautifully well made, and need to be seen 'irl' to be appreciated, and appreciate I did. If you like something a bit more sophisticated in your bathroom, there's a lovely rainforest print version here, and they also make a series of laminated handbags that could soon be putting Cath Kidston to shame. Chanel channels tattoos: Stylish ways to decorate yourself through the decades

stars on face.jpg

Tattoos have existed thousands of years, dating back to the Inca civilizations when one would use ink under the skin as a method of healing the body or warding off demons. Today this art has evolved to be more decorative than protective, but certain markings still denote clans and tribes, from Asian sub cultures to soldier's sleeves.

Different tattoos can mark someone as part of an era, and it's interesting to look at what symbols evoke in popular culture. Chanel is joining the fray by creating temporary tattoos, which will be available from March in boutiques. They've chosen to create a design which is ultra feminine with a delicate floral and bead design. Their £49 tattoo transfer is destined to be a sell out, but what other tattoos have existed that have marked certain stages in human culture?

The Purifyne Programme Detox Diaries: Days 3, 4, and 5

purifyne_review.gif

SDC10072.JPG

I'm trialling out the Purifyne juice detox diet on a quest to get clearer skin and more energy. Read on for news of how I'm finding the programme!

Day 3

I wake up with a distinctly furry tongue and a severe lack of energy. I'm not normally a morning person so this was nothing particularly unusual but the fact that brushing my teeth made my tongue still feel like it had an extra growth was unpleasant. I'd run out of chamomile teabags so the morning enema was put off to the night, and I proceeded to swallow my mountain full of pills and supplements. I'm encouraged to have long baths and exercise but I was so tired a bath was all I could cope with.

I swigged my coconut water like a lifeline as the flavour really helped boost my flagging energy, and much of the morning was spent lolling in front of the TV watching bad shows.

Product Review: Garnier Caffeine Anti-Dark Circles

garnier-caffeine-anti-dark.jpgThere's a big trend for putting ingredients we normally put in our mouths into our cosmetic products, and the thinking behind Garnier's Caffeine-infused tinted concealer is that it wakes up and refreshes your eyes in much the same way that a nice strong cup of coffee revives you in the morning.

If your eyes tend to be a problem area and you're prone to late nights, getting hold of this product will certainly work in your favour. I found it dealt quite well with the slight hyperpigmentation I have underneath my eyes, and instead of just masking the skin, seemed to even out the tone pretty nicely. Not bad for such an affordable concealer.

Purifyne Juice fast Detox: The Detox Diaries

purifyne_review.gif

With less than a week to go till Valentine's day, some of you may be starting to stress about fitting into that trusty LBD. Well, never fear, there's a way to look glowing and ravishing on the night that doesn't involve going under the knife. The Purifyne Juice fast Detox is a way to revitalize you body and soul, as it promises to clear up your complexion, streamline your digestion ( which will make you look slimmer) and supercharge your metabolism.

Purifyne is a drink detox system which allows you a certain number of vegetable and fruit juices a day, as well as a variety of pills and supplements to aid your body in cleansing itself. The idea is that a week without solid food will help your body kick start its digestive system and deep cleanse it of nasties and toxin build ups. A pleasant side effect of this is clearer skin and a slimmer silhouette, so this could be a great way for someone looking to start upon a healthier lifestyle.
