Ask the Team: Find me a dark long lasting lipstick

Ask_the_team This week, Danielle from Trashionista is looking for a dark long lasting lipstick...

I'm a daily lipstick wearer, and have been since the age of 13. I tend to keep to dark (yet not TOO dark) shades. Right now Heatherberry and Ancient Earth from the Boots 17 range are my faves; they're fab colours and don't break the bank, either. But what I'm after is something long-lasting. The Boots shades don't exactly last for hours on end and I want something that doesn't make me whip out my mirror and lippie in class! I know that L'Oreal do a Kiss-Proof selection, but I'm not keen on the colours they do as they're mainly too light. Avon used to do a Lip Ink in a dark pink colour that stayed on for ages. It was absolutely perfect...but they stopped selling it a good few years ago now...

Ask the Team: Find me a silent epilator

Ask_the_team I'm wondering if you can help me find a silent epilator. After trying Braun's Silk-epil, I'm an epilator convert, but the loud as a lawnmower noise it makes is really a bit too much! Next year when I have housemates and paper thin walls I'm not sure they'd appreciate the noise it makes, so I'm looking for a silent or at least a less noisy epilator, which is hopefully still effective and not budget-busting. Thanks! Irene

You're not wrong Irene, some of my housemates actually came up to find out what was going on when they heard my ultra loud Braun epilator, but luckily we've found you a quiet one...

Ask The Audience: Lasting Eyeshadows

No_7_eyeshadow_1 Well another week's gone by, and still no one wants our help. But after the success of last week when you all shared your blusher wisdom, I feel it makes sense to pool our collective beauty wisdom once again. This time, long lasting eyeshadows, if I had a penny for every eyeshadow that didn't even make it to lunchtime, well, I still wouldn't be that rich, but I'd probably have a few quid. Personally I can vouch for Mac as my first choice, especially the pigment, Ruby and Millie's pens for eyeshadow ease and No 7 are ok for a budget option. All of which are pretty long lasting and actually contain some pigment, unlike my eyeshadow bugbear, Bourjois - yes the colours are lovely, but they're so wishy-washy. And don't even get me started on Maybelline and their mousse.

So...what are your top long lasting eyeshadows and why?

Asking you: Finding the Perfect Blush

Benefit_dallas Noone's been asking the team this week so I thought I'd turn the tables and ask you. Despite having several hundred draws overflowing with makeup, not one of them contains a decent blush. Now I'm planning to follow up Gemma's recommendation of Benefit's Dallas bronzer/blush combo (or the new Dallas Palette - which sounds fantastic). But before I do I wanted to ask you guys what your favourite blusher is and what you'd recommend for me.

Nothing I've tried looks right or natural on me (Benefit's Benetint and similar tend to look too red, and everything else looks too orange). I'm very pale, freckly, and quite red cheeked naturally (but in the 'she looks hot and bothered' way not the good way!).

So over to you...

Ask The Team: YSL Gold Celebration Palette

I've had the following plea from UK based Kiss and Makeup reader Megan...

I’m desperately trying to find the YSL gold celebration palette with pink, grey, silver and white eyeshadows.  It’s the only thing I need and I use it every day but I had to pack it in my hold luggage last week and now it’s broken. I’m absolutely heartbroken and have tried everything to find another one.  Please save me from a make-up free future!

Ask the Team: Pore Refiners

I was wondering if you know of any products in the UK that close or reduce pores? Thanks, Emily X

Luckily Emily you're spoilt for choice, none of these products will permanently reduce the size of your pores, but they will create a temporary tightening effect...

Ask the Team: Stick eyeshadows

I was wondering if you could help me out. I've been using my Clinique Smudgesicle stick for my eyes for a while now (probably three years). It's awesome and easy to use, I just glide it over my eyes, and instant seductiveness. If I want a day look, I apply one layer, but if I want a hot smokin' night look, and little thicker. Best of all, it's really light so I don't feel it at all. Anyway, the stick is running pretty low, and apparently they don't make Smudgesicle sticks anymore! Would you be able to recommend something similar? I find gels don't work, one layer is too sheer, but anymore than one layer makes my eyes feel too heavy. I was also looking for a convinient stick to throw in my handbag as well.

PS I'm all the way in Australia, so probably don't have access to all the nice goodies you do.

Jess
