There are so many spas nowadays, that everyone is trying new gimmicks to stand out, and the latest oddity to hit the block is a spa with a dedicated WOMB ROOM. No, not some sort of new age birthing area, but a room 'designed to re-create the journey of life starting with where it all began: the womb.'.
The description is such that I feel it best to show you it verbatim, as I don't even need to paraphrase to make it funny. Oh, OK, maybe I'll just play a bit with bold and Italics.
'The womb room treatment is part of the hotel's 'Spa Experience' which includes 15 rooms designed to take you on a memory journey through life. Entering the room through the neck of a uterus fashioned out of pink carpet, guests find themselves in a low-lit room, with pink carpet splashed with vermillion fabric revolving to simulate a giant umbilical cord, and are blood-coloured waterbeds designed to indicate the amniotic sac. To aid the process of unwinding once guests lie down on the beds, breathy music is played to re-create the noises heard from within the womb. '

I have to say, seeing fresh tubes of lipstick on display in row after shiny row is always a lure - whether it was MAC Cosmetics lipstick in the past, or now Maybelline New York, the newer beauty sponsor of Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
This year the sponsor is hosting an event on Fashion's Night Out and a Maybelline New York & CVS Pharmacy Beauty and Fashion Retreat pop up shop during New York Fashion Week, and a nationwide contest at CVS pharmacies throughout September.
The hair sponsor, Tresemme is partnering with Whitney Port and building a salon at the new Lincoln Center location for the New York shows. Content for the brand's Facebook page and fall advertising campaigns will be culled from the events in New York, too.
Basically, the brands are trying to enact initiatives that will get consumers into retail locations after viewing fashion week content or participating in an event.

L'Occitane is one of my favourite brands, as their products are so longlasting and smell so beautiful.
I have a permanenet soft spot in my heart for their Citrus Verbena range (a gorgeous lemony scent that makes you think of summer) and was pleased to hear about the latest scent to come to their stable, called Fleur Cherie.
This scent uses Orange Blossom as its main note, and will provide you with an uplifting floral experience.

I'm generally torn on the idea of eye creams. On one hand I know that the skin around the eyes is a lot thinner than anywhere else on the face (40%!), on the other hand I wonder whether the benefit from using an eye cream is the same as using a good quality moisturiser. Estee Lauder are determined to change my mind, and have just launched details of their brand new eye cream, the Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex.
The brand new serum ( out later this month) combines a selection of ingredients to reduce the signs of ageing. Here comes the science bit....

Benefit is a cult brand for a good reason-they deliver consistently high quality products (love Thrrob, Dallas, Pore Professional) in the prettiest packaging. One of my friends loves their boxes so much she keeps her products in them, so her makeup box is bulging with cardboard! I was excited to hear about the newest product in their line up, a stylish looking highlighter. It's called Girl Meets Pearl and is a golden pink liquid that would be great for adding some shimmery colour to the cheeks, eyes and collarbone. What's most exciting about it however (well for me anyways) is that it's scented. Yes, scented!

Where GaGa goes others will follow and her latest video has health experts worried. Not because of the amount of peroxide she wears, or her scantily clad poses, but her oversized cartoon like pupils that give her a strangely Manga innocent air. Her eyes were digitally enhanced but there is a growing trend for specially created contact lenses designed to give the eye the same effect. Called Circle lenses they work by covering not just the pupil but part of the white of the eye.
Circle lenses have already achieved popularity in Japan and Korea where women try to look like anime charcaters, but there are fears this trend wil now get widespread appeal. Why is it so bad?

Topshop has just released some images of its Autumn/Winter range and it's rather lovely. A delectable selection of shadows sit side by side deep aubergine lipsticks and inky eyeliners. The line is called Heavy Duty and shows that Tosho thinks the smokey eyed grunge aesthetic will be hot this season. It unashamedly waves goodbye to floaty princessy style and gives us something tough and chic. The Heavy Duty Topshop range features 17 new seasonal products, from pewter nail varnishes to sultry liners. many of the shadows have been designed to use both wet and dry for added emphasis, and the colour palette makes you think of vampire glam. See another image after the jump.
