Summer Shape up: Zara tests out the Diet Chef system

Diet chef.jpg

I've put on a couple of pounds since my last diet, and while I'm not sobbing into my pillow, it would be nice if my skinny jeans remain skinny (look they're a size 12, OK? Skinny means something different to everybody).

I decided to try a couple of weeks on the Diet Chef programme, especially since they've just launched a vegetarian meal selection. Often we poor veggies miss out on diets because of the limited options, but now there's finally a diet just for us, and it looks quite tasty as well.

Call It What You Will: The 'Mancake' Revolution

Will Reid, Man about Town muses on the rise in Mancake

Zac efronn.jpg

Male make-up is taking the entertainment industries (that's cosmetics/ fashion/ music and film) by storm. No longer is a touch of bronzer and a dab of lipstick meant only for dressing-room gents; 'guyliner,' 'mancake' and 'mank-up' are all terms being more frequently used amongst the youth of today.

Everyone is searching for an adopter of this trend (because, let's face it- after Beck's 'sarong' drama no-one wants to be the first man standing.) Zac Efron seems to have been hoisted up as the sail of this cosmetics boat but I, as an image-conscious male, don't exactly see Efron as one to mimic.

New Big Brother 9 girls: 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

bigbrothergirls.jpgIn an effort to up the ante, Big Brother 9 has introduced three new women to the house. And as far as beauty savvy goes, these girls aren't too bad. Maysoon expertly highlighted her lovely eyes with the slick of metallic silver shadow, balanced out with a neutral but glossy lip. Sara allowed her natural good looks to shine through with a fresh-faced nude makeup look.

Makeup sins: The top five I'm guilty of

Thumbnail image for zara rabinowicz.jpg

We all know that we should cleanse and tone, trim our cuticles and brush our hair 100 times a day (OK, that one's an old wives tale) but do we always do that? I have to admit that I don't always practice what I preach, and will now reveal my deepest darkest beauty sins. But before you get to judgmental, I'm sure you recognize some of them yourselves!

Number One: Not always using suncream

Yes I know this is a terrible crime, but in my justification, my moisturizer and foundation both contain SPF so I normally think that's enough. On holiday I'm never without it, but I don't wear it daily in the UK.

What does a Beauty Editor look like?

beauty editor.jpg

Now I work in beauty because I'm absolutely addicted to products, prettiness and colours galore, but do you think that makes me ultra groomed and perfect? Not a chance! I still get zits, flyaway hair, and don't even get me started on the state of my nails. The thing is I go to a lot of beauty events, and the majority of women there are very, very groomed. And some aren't. At all.
