Battle of the Bent Brushes: Benefit vs. Inglot

bent liner brushes.pngBenefit's famous brush is a staple for many in-the-know. Its 30-degree bend makes eyelining a cinch as you can get super-close to the mirror for the perfect line. But here's a secret: Polish brand Inglot have the same idea - for less of your green. Yeah, the brush name ain't as half cute - in fact it sounds more like a Terminator serial number - but darn if it don't look better in my pot of mostly-MAC brushes, and work just as well as anything ever...

deluxevsdc_8hrgloss.jpgWith summer comes the welcome return of shiny, glossy lips. And the beauty companies are ready and waiting with offerings of ultra long-lasting lip gloss that claim to stay on your lips for up to eight hours. I tested out two of these glosses - Clinique Longlast Glosswear with SPF15, and Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze - to the test. How do the two compare and do they really last for eight hours? Read on to find out.

Deluxe vs Dirt Cheap: Flower blushers from

best of blush.jpg

Oooh aren't these all adorable? And surpisingly identical looking as well! Especially the Clinique and Collection 2000 version! Well it's great that there's one to suit every price range, and the mid peachy pink colours they use should suit all skin tones. They all come in different shades which is great, so I think this is going to be down to personal preference. I can imagine some people being to snobby for Collection 2000, but at this price, and this pretty, more fool them! The Clinique set is lovely to use and gives a really natural flush. As for the Body Shop set, hey, who doesn't love daisies?

Deluxe vs Dirt Cheap: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact vs Autograph Sunglow bronzing palette

boobi brown bronzer.jpg

Summertime is in the air, and we even had a full day of serious heat on Saturday (park + swings+ sun = smiley Zara), so it's time to get those bronzers out of hibernation. Two contenders for you this year areBobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick Compact, £27 and the Sunglow Bronzing palette, £12 from Autograph at M&S. The price difference is absolutely whopping but they look almost identical. So what's the lowdown? Well it really depends on what you want out of your bronzer.

Deluxe vs Dirt cheap: Origins Mega-Mushroom Eye Makeup Remover Pads and Johnson's 3 in 1 eye make up removal pads

el dirt.jpg

If you're anything like me, you'll find that the problem of wearing so much eye makeup daily means that it's an absolute pain to get off, and unless you fancy rings tattooed into your skin and a smudgy pillow you had better remove before bed. These are two easy to use options as both products are laden with eye makeup remover and gentle on the skin. the Johnson's 3 in 1 eye make up removal pads are £2.99, available from Boots and leave the skin looking clean and refreshed, as well as not irritating my contact lenses. They cleanse, condition and remove all traces of the day. On the other hand there's the top of the range Origins Mega-Mushroom Eye Makeup Remover Pads, which retail for £18 from Origins and do exactly the same thing.

Deluxe vs Dirt Cheap: Bourjois Menthol Gloss and Benefit California Kissing

menthol gloss.jpg

Menthol lip glosses have been around for a little while now, and are definitely here to stay! The mint in the gloss gives you fabulously fresh breath and the faint blue tint makes your gnashers look pearly white. But will you opt for California Kissing, £12.50 from Benefit, or try a more budget friendly option with Bourjois's menthol gloss. Both are really easy to apply and give the lips a lovely sheen, so it's up to you- will you go for a wallet friendly option or splash out for the cult brand name? The subtle blue sheen makes teeth appear whiter and the minty taste freshens breath. So pick a partner and let the kissin' begin!

Deluxe vs Dirt Cheap: Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner and GOSH Extreme Art eyeliner

eyeliners.jpg

Why is it that you get two products that do exactly the same thing but have a major differing in price? I've been a fan of Urban Decay's heavy metal eyeliners for a while now, but recently tried out the GOSH Extreme Art Eyeliner and was really impressed. The colour doesn't have the the same sparkle, but it goes on really smoothly and produces a vibrant long lasting colour for a whole £3.50 less. It won't be available till May though, so you'll have to console yourself with Urban Decay in the mean time!
