Industry Interview: Kim Jacob, creator of Angelique

Kim Jacob.jpg

There are so many great skincare brands on offer sometimes it's hard to know where to start looking; and when you do often they don't supply you with what you really desire. Kim Jacobs, world renown makeup artist and developer of product lines for FCUK decided she wanted a family friendly range that concentrated on natural ingredients and massage; voila- Angelique was born!

What inspired you to do Angelique?

My children and my bond with them that was brought about by massaging them and also the need for multi functional products that I could use and use on them that were safe, beneficial and good quality.

Industry Interview: Sian Sutherland of Mama Mio fame

sians.jpg

I'm a big fan of Mama Mio products, as not only are they made using the best ingredients around, they also look really stylish.. and WORK amazingly. I've managed to grab myself a bit of time with the delightful Sian Sutherland one of the founders of the brand, to learn a bit about her, and get some gossip on forthcoming products.

When did you first become interested in beauty?

I guess every woman is interested in beauty but my interest is much more in the whole concept of skin being as fit as possible and doing the best job it can - then it will inevitably look amazing. The best foundation is great skin, isn't it? I also love the idea that something so simple can make you feel so good about yourself. Men have it far tougher!

Industry Interview :We talk to Dr Nirdosh about how to combat ageing and what influenced her product line

Dr Nirdosh - low res.jpg

Dr Nirdosh has been involved in skin care for a long time, with her main focus being anti ageing. She's created a line of products to combat those telltale signs, as well as setting up shop with her very own Anti Ageing Clinic in the heart of London. This lady knows all there is to know about how the skin works and how to make the most of what you've got,and we managed to grab her for a quick chat about how she started in the business and her advice on how to keep your skin looking youthful.

When did you first become interested in beauty?

My mum enforced a no skin slacking policy from the day I was born! I'm not kidding, even while she was pregnant with me, she was eating a diet of homemade pomegranate juice and fresh cottage cheese to help give me good skin. By the time I was 15, I was so programmed to this, that I would eat 8 tomatoes, half a cucumber and smoothies on the bus home from school everyday, thinking this was normal.

Industry Interview: We talk to Maria Hatzistefanis the brains behind luxury brand Rodial

Maria_Rodial_expert_.jpg

We're big fans of Rodial here at Kiss and Makeup, having previously raved over their fab A List Cleanser, Glamotox Peel and Tummy Tuck cream so I was happy to get some one on one time with Maria Hatzistefanis, the creator of the brand. I wanted to find out her philosophy on life and beauty and see how she has managed to create such an award winning range.

She tells me how she first got into beauty. 'I started creating products since I was 10 years old. I created a cream blush from mixing my mum's NIVEA cream with a bit of lipstick, or creating blonde highlights on my hair with lemon juice and loved doing makeovers on my girlfriends.'

Read on to find out more about her,

Watch this space for Leanne Bisson, makeup artist extraordinaire

Leanne work.jpg

Now I like makeup a lot, but I'm by no means an expert. Why else do you think I keep getting lessons in how to apply the stuff? Images like these make me weep at the sheer creativity and artistry that goes into them, and I think that Leane Bisson is definitely one to watch. Hailing from Essex, Leanne is 19 years old, ad already has an amazing portfolio of images. She styles her own models, and has already assisted on a number of high quality shoots. I love that she can create so many different styles, and am impressed she's achieved all this at such a young age.
