Brown shadow comes out of its shell with Party All the Time

Party All The Time.jpg

Brown shadow gets a bad, boring rap. Most of the time it's relegated to your neutrals palette for conservative, less-is-more looks. Well, brown shadow gets to go to the party with Three Custom Color's Party All the Time. The rich chocolate shade with bronze undertones and plenty of opalescent sparkle is a collaboration with makeup artist Marissa Fazzina.

"As soon as I was asked to create a shade for the line, I knew exactly what I wanted it to be," she said. "I know, and you can ask other makeup artists out there, it's almost impossible to find a brown eye shadow with the right mix of added sparkle."

If you're a bit flummoxed as to how to wear a brown shadow as part of a going out look, we've got Marissa's tips to help you out. Keep reading!

Product Review: No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara [Advertorial]

No7 mascara.jpg
When it comes to my lashes, I feel the longer the better, and that's echoed by No7 in the release of their latest mascara, No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara . They have created a two sided brush, one to help volumize the lashes, and one to define and separate them. An extra plus is the fact that the forumla is enrichred with vitamins and cashmere keratin to add condition to the lashes. So what's the verdict?

The actual mascara wand is a bright yellow, though it's hard to see that under the product. It's made of plastic and is very bendy, able to reach into the smallest corner of the eye without marking your skin. The wand is great at reaching every single lash- even the little ones- and the smaller side of the wand really helps elongate and define them.

Bourjois 2 Step Volumizer Mascara: Product Review

Bourjois volumizer.jpg

I love mascara. Love, love, love the stuff. It definitely makes it into the top three of my desert island beauty picks (sunscreen and lip balm in case you were wondering) and I get very excited about any new products. I've recently been playing with the brand new Volumizer mascara from Bourjois, and am very impressed. The mascara features TWO brushes to allow you to create two different looks, the idea being you go for subtle during the day and vamp it up at night.

RapidLash - the next big thing for lashes?

Rapidlash.jpg

For quite some time now, eyelash enhancing serums have been gaining popularity., First there was all that fuss about the L'Oreal Serum, then we heard about Latisse from the states (FDA approved to grow lashes but not available here) and now there's RapidLash. Touted as the next big thing in eyelash lengthening products, the serum works in the same way as others of its ilk- you apply it daily to the lash line and over time the ingredients will causes your lashes to become thicker or longer.

They say that the serum will help your lashes fight aggressors which is everything from harsh eye makeup remover to ageing. The idea is that within 8 weeks your lashes will look noticeably different, and if you check out their site you can see some pretty impressive before and after pics.

However, as with everything on Kiss and Makeup, before we give it our seal of approval, we'll be testing it out ourselves. Just because they've sold a lot at the pre order stage doesn't mean it will be everything they promise, so I'll see you back here in 8 or so weeks with a full on verdict (and images!). In the mean time, let me know if you've tried it- and what you think.

£39.99 from Boots on pre order.

Clinique Bigger Brighter Eyes Collection

Clinique bigger brighter eyes.jpg

Clinique have seriously perfected their marketing strategy for their latest line-up of products, well, enough to reel me in hook line and sinker anyways. Entitled' Bigger Brighter Eyes' their six piece strong range is designed to help whiten and lighten the eye area, as well as accentuate the eyes and lengthen the lashes. As the eyes are the main thing I concentrate on (after face, obv) this is very intriguing to me, and I love the fact that they've included a brow pencil in their line-up, as brands often downplay the importance of having groomed brows as well as stylish eyes.

Product Review: Noir Mascara from Nouveau Lashes

Noir mascara review.jpg

I'm a bit of a mascara fiend, so when I learnt that the creators of Nouveau Lash Extensions were turning their hands to mascara, I knew I had to give it a try. I've previously tried their extensions and been very impressed with their natural look and long lasting results so I was hoping they'd bring their expertise to the domain of mascara.

The tube is exceptionally chunky, but feels nicely weighted in the hand, and I'm told that it's that size because it's more handbag friendly. Erm, what? I'd read the term 'handbag friendly', as small and unobtrusive and they seem to mean easy to find in the depths of your bag. That aside, I was really quite taken with the mascara. the wand is slightly conical shaped, with a thicker centre and thinner inner and outer bristles and glides through the lashes easily. The variety in bristle length makes it easy to get in really close without smudging it all over the face, and one coat provided great coverage. It dried really quickly as well, and I liked how it gave my lashes extra volume.
