Your whole Origins skincare regime for less than £30? It's true!

skincaree.jpgIf you need to stock up on skincare for the new year, you won't get much better than this amazing offer. Origins 'Skin Care Experts' contains products worth almost £60 but is yours for £27.50 as part of the Winter White sale. It's worth the price purely for 'Modern Friction', a gentle but effective dermabrasion inspired face scrub that I thoroughly recommend for anyone with dull or troublesome skin. It lasts forever and works wonders. You also get the bestselling 'Check & Balances' facial wash, 'A Perfect World' white tea skin guardian and 'A Perfect World' moisturiser. I'm thoroughly tempted, despite having boxes full of products I've yet to try...

Chantecaille Nano Gold Energizing Cream

gold%20nano.jpg

When it comes to bling beauty, Chantecaille's Energizing Cream is where it's at. Not only has it got the suitably bling price tag of £350 (that's £70 per 10ml, or in other words, £70 per modest scoop) but it's actually got real bling in it. Yup, it's a pot of real, pure gold. That, and pineapple juice, rosemary leaf extract, and an algae-and-fermented-protein compound.

So what will this pot of gold and various other things do for you? Well it's another fountain of youth, in case you hadn't guessed, promising to ensure skin retains optimal health and youthful vitality. If you believe the hype and you've got sufficient coins, you can buy it here.

Video review: Natural moisturisers for dry skin

Over at Hippyshopper they've been busily testing the best natural creams for dry skin, ideal for the freezing weather and the resulting cranked up central heating our skin is suffering through right now. Watch the video to find out what they thought of creams from Nude, L'Occitane, Dermalogica, Dr Hauschka and Avene.

Skyn Iceland Stress Defense Cream

skyn%20iceland%20stressed%20skin.jpg

Stressed? Tired? Hung over? Can't remember the last time you did exercise?

Skyn Iceland think they have the solution, and it comes in a jar. They say that within 10 minutes of applying their Stress Defense Cream, your brow furrows will lighten, your skin will emerge brighter and more radiant, and an invisible shield will protect you from further environmental stressors. Of course, it really only helps your skin, not your hair, energy levels, or general well-being - so a pot of this in your bathroom cupboard isn't really a license to party with no ill effects. Sorry about that...

Jewelled La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream

jewelled.jpgLa Prairie's Skin Caviar Luxe Cream is already expensive, but add 2,400 hand-applied Swarovski crystals to the mix, and as you can imagine the price sky-rockets a little bit. Well, a lot, if I'm honest. Each jewelled jar takes 48 hours to make, and there's only 610 numbered pieces worldwide, taking the total up to US$2000. Cripes.

Much as I love lotions and potions, if it was a choice between a sparkly jar of cream and a luxury holiday (I reckon you'd get quite a good getaway for that money) you'll find me on the plane, no question.

The ultimate budget beauty kit

ultimate%20budget%20beauty.jpg
I've tried a lot of beauty products, and the one thing I've learnt is that 95% of the time, you don't have to spend a lot of money to look good. The problem being, you might have to spend a lot of money finding the products that really work. With the aim of saving you a bit of wonga, I've put together my ultimate budget beauty kit, and later this week, we'll be starting a new set of polls (like the Kiss and Makeup holiday suitcase) to find your best loved budget beauty products. Until then, here's my picks...

Moisturiser: Olay - This actually beat higher priced moisturisers in independent tests and contains SPF 15 (a must have for wrinkle-defying).
Foundation: Max Factor Colour Adapt (or Max Factor Age Renew for older skins). The former evens skin tone without looking like there's anything there, the latter gives a lit-by-candle-light soft focus to skin.
