Couture meets Courtney Love for Chanel Beauty

"If you want to bring this look that I did for the Haute Couture show to the street, it is very easy. It's a beautiful lip color, lip shade, and a nude eye," said Peter Philips, the brand's global creative director of makeup. "Everybody can wear it, it doesn't necessarily have to be a red red, you can do a more intense pink or a darker shade of beige."

He also hints at a "super luxurious" product he's working on with Karl to come out at the end of the year, hmm....

Product Review: Pommade Divine

Pommade_Divine.jpg

For years I've been a diehard devotee of Eight Hour Cream. I've stuck with that delicious gloopy gloss/fix all despite every other innovation, and though a couple of creams have made me pause (notably by Shizen products) I tend to return to the trusty 8 Hour. I've recently been trying Pommade Divine and have to say I'm now very torn as to whether it can beat 8 Hour in the moisturizing stakes. It comes in a variety of formats- pots and tubes, and has an oddly invigorating slightly herby scent. The actual ingredients that give it this unique flavour are clove, cinnamon and nutmeg, but from personal experience I'd say none of these really come through, just a general herblike aroma.

Tom Ford launches line of lipsticks, sexy advertising ensues

Tom Ford lipstick.jpg

Oh Tom Ford the things you do to us. Does anyone else get the impression the girl in that ad is tied up naked in some 5-star hotel?

The Tom Ford Private Blend Color Collection will be available at Neiman Marcus for $45. That's right, $45 for a lipstick. But it's a sexy TF-embossed lipstick! Available in 12 shades, so you could ostensibly spend $540 on lipsticks! Or, you could just buy one shade and blow the rest on a male escort to recreate the advertising image.

Soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil are used to create just the right amount of moisture and shine, but let's be clear that the luxury here is in the slick white packaging and the Tom Ford name.

Product Review: MADARA tinted sunkissed lipbalm gloss

madara-lip-gloss.jpgWe love MADARA round here: all products we've tested so far from the award-winning, eco-friendly range have been instant hits, as they're both a joy to look at and a joy to wear. So I was almost scared about trying their lip gloss, which had an awful lot to live up to. I'm not a bit lip gloss fan in general, and have not yet found one I want to wear enough to stop it getting lost in the depths of my handbag. In fact, I should probably have a special pocket installed for discarded lip glosses I didn't like...

But I need not have worried: MADARA's new lipcare range more than lives up to the quality of previous products, and is going to be essential wear for the summer. I tried the 'Sunkissed' shade of Deco Lips tinting lipgloss baume, which is in fact a reformulated version of MADARA's earlier ecolips product: a balm/tint I loved, but I much prefer the easy-squeeze application and free flowing consistency of the new formula.

The colour is ideal for summer; a subtle, bronzy tint that gives lips light tone and warm gloss without the tacky, jelly-like glaze that many of us associate with lip gloss. I found it blended in perfectly with my natural lip colour, while enhancing their hue. It smells divine with a sweet citrussy note, and being made from all natural ingredients selected for their nourishing properties, really helps keep the lips looking well conditioned and kissable!

The new lip glosses and two new lip balms will be available from 11th April at the RRP of £9.90. Available from online stores including soorganic.com and Naturisimo.com, Selfridges and selected outlets.

Bizarre Beauty: Cheetos Lip Balm

Cheetos Lip Balm 1.jpg

I'm not sure if you have Cheetos in the U.K., but they're crunchy cheese puffs covered in an unholy orange powder that sticks in your teeth and gets all over your hands and clothes. I'm not saying they're not delicious, but they're nothing that you'd think of in terms of any sort of oral health or beauty aid!

And yet! Apparently there is a market for Cheetos Lip Balm! It took me a little while to come around to different flavors of Lip Smackers like Dr. Pepper, which have obviously become cult favorites, so maybe I'm missing something here? If you think I am, you can get this new lip balm at Claire's boutiques. Just, please, please don't wear it on a date!

Creating a natural, neutral face with MAC's Warm and Cozy Collection

MAC warm and cozy.jpg

The MAC Warm & Cozy Collection is out now in the US and coming to the U.K. next month so I thought I'd give you a rundown of some of the products from the line I used to create a natural, neutral makeup look for everyday.

First I applied the two eye shadows: Chamomile, a creamy pale yellow I'd describe as vanilla, all over the lid up to the brow bone, and then Mulled Cider, a dark warm brown, in the crease with a countour brush, blending out a bit a the outer corners. This brown is very soft and muted, with something of a gray base, I'd say. I used my usual Diorshow mascara to finish off my eyes. This look is subtle and conservative, perfect for the office.

The line contains two Mineralize Skinfinishes for cheeks, By Candlelight, a golden pink, and Comfort, a golden bronze. But I didn't receive them so I used my Stila Countouring Trio.

To read about the three fabulous lip products in the Warm & Cozy collection, keep reading.
