I'd like to say that matte has finally come back into fashion, but hellooo, it has been stylish at least a year now, since last years fashion week. Still, there's no denying that makeup brands have woken up to the allure that shine free style offers, and there are currently many options for the nail obsessed girl. Perhaps the simplest offering is Revlon's Matte nail varnish range, where you simply choose one of their many intriguing colours, slap on a a coat or two and go. That may be a great way to get into the matte trend, but it does leave your beloved range of varnishes looking lonesome.

Coloour changing nail varnish seems like something you should have left behind when you entered your teens, but seeing as everything youth orientated is now in style (Barbie makeup, multicloured nails, hair streaks) ther's no reason grown women can't enjoy the sensation of watching their varnish change colour. Del Sol is the latest brand on the market to offer this, and they've just come to the UK. They work via sunlight, so your nails will be one colour in the house and another in the sun. There are twenty four shades in the range, so you should be able to find something you like!

The Chanel Khaki Collection, a.k.a Les Khakis de Chanel is set to be the NEW next best thing in nails. Hang on, didn't we just have that with Chanel Paradoxal? Yes, I think we did. Still trying to hog the varnish cult bandwagon despite the fact that it chips really quickly, Chanel has ANOTHER highly touted nail colour(s) to share with us. Created by Peter Philips, the creative director for Chanel, the collection is boring. BORING. It comprises of three muted shades, an earthy brown, a dusky rose and a pale green- also known as Chanel Khaki Brun, Chanel Khaki Rose and Chanel Khaki Vert.
There's nothing intrinsically wrong about these colours they're just really dull, and suggest a season full of muted restraint and pared down glamour rather than flamboyance and brights. Sure, some people will adore these shades, but I think Chanel was missing a trick here- if they'd have given us something bold and bright I'd have been excited rather than just jaded by their poor colour choices. No word on a UK release date yet.

Nails are going to be big in Autumn/Winter, and what your talons are displaying will make or break an outfit. OPI has just told us that it has reissued its popular Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow green nail shade in a Suede variety. That means a suede finish- not gloss, not matte.. that actually feels stroke-able to the touch. Awesome, right? There are also six other shades in the collection, with a delicious grey being my favourite- entitled 'Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees'.
I'll leave you to stare at Vigo Mortensen's lovely rugged face.. unless you're more of a Legolas fan!
Get it now for £9.95 each from Lena White

Even if you don't get your manis on the Upper East Side, you can still get Gossip Girl glossy nails with a new collection from Nicole by OPI. There are four shades of blues, greens and silvers with names like Too Rich for You and Scandals, Secrets and Sparkle. The colors are now available for $8 at Target.

Can't decide whether to go for a glitter polish or a cream come fall? Well Zoya's got both in their Fall 2010 Wicked and Wonderful Collection. Click through for swatches, names and descriptions of the new colors available now for $7 each or $36 for a sampler at Zoya.com.

So new that I have no prices, no release date, and the image packs are mere mock ups- I bring you the Elegant Touch nail stickers! At the moment they have three varieties to be launched, and they're very easy to apply to the nails. You stick them on, file away the edge, and voila. No top coat is needed, and they're very long lasting- about a week with no flaking, and then you can remove them with a little nail action and a peel! Easy to apply, easy to remove and bound to be fraction of the price of Minx, I think these are great. A suggestion would be to do just one accent nail like I did above- I think the contrast works really well.
Out later this year from Elegant Touch.
